Beeswax!!!
Posted On 01/08/2009 17:38 by SilverSageWolf

I really, REALLY want to start helping people. So they'll stop being medicated with expensive pharmaceuticals. So here's what I'm going to do. I'm going to make myself a list of herbs to start out with... And start testing those puppies out in oils and tinctures.

"Witch doctoring" it for a little while. Ialready know how to make a eucalyptus oil that works like vapo-rub... and tiger balm. I think beeswax and eucalyptus may be the hardest thing to find on my list. Though I think I could probably find the former could be found at a craft store, honestly... either way...

Eh. If anyone knows anything to help out... Hit me up. (Most overused phrase in my vocabulary!) :d

Actually Ravyn, the beeswax available at craft stores is  of very low quality. There is a huge difference between candle-gade and cosmetic-grade beeswax. The former usually has about 8% paraffin added to it. Pellets, being overprocessed, are usually the worst culprits, and have most of the natural healing benifits of beeswax taken out of it by the manufacturing process.

If you can't find good quality beeswax as a base for your ointments, use soy wax (low melting point, good for the skin, used in masage candles) or jojoba oil instead. Jojoba is actually a wax that stays liquid at room temperature, has an identical ph balance as human skin, and rarely goes rancid.

Honey is grand for cuts; I use it, mashed with garlic, as a pain reliever and anti-bacterial ointment for deep wounds, when fresh plantain leaf is unavailable. It takes away the pain almost instantly, and greatly reduces scarring.

You can totally find beeswax at a craft store but you should look on line to see if you can find a better deal.  I'd also stick to pellets as they will be easier to work with than trying to chip pieces off of a block of the stuff!

Also this lady at my work swears buy raw honey.  it's good for cuts and stuff as well as good in tawdies and nice in a bath!  have fun!

Sorry to mislead you. I meant it in the fact that I'd be trying it out on myself and seeing what works in how much of an amount. But... What I'm talking about... You don't really HAVE to believe in it to work. It's herbal, after all...

Great Idea! How do you approach witch doctoring? Must you have a belief for it to work? I'm curious, thanks!
