I know I said I was going to update the forums and groups next, but this caught my attention for some reason. We now have a functioning instant messaging system in place.
When someone on your friends list is online, you can send them a personal chat request, and a little chat window will open so you can talk to them. I've only tested it briefly, so full details are yet to come.
You can page someone by either going to their profile page, and clicking on the Instant Message button in their Contact panel (under their photo). it will send a request that they will have to accept.
Or you can use the new chatbar at the bottom of your screen. At the very right of the bar, it will say Chat and have the number of friends available in brackets. Click on that, and it will show you a list. Choose someone to send a chat request.
If you GET a request, it flashes in the chatbar. But you have to be on the Covenspace site to see it.
You can set yourself "offline" for private messages over at the right of the chatbar again. Click on the little man with the green dot, and change it to offline. It will stay offline until you switch it back.
I think that's enough to get you started for now. I will write up a full description on the features tomorrow after some sleep.
I currently haven't figured out any browser/software issues yet, so feel free to send me a note if it doesn't work. I'm always up for more bug reports. If you do, PLEASE tell me what browser you are using and what error messages you are getting. Don't just tell me it doesn't work.
