Happy 15th Anniversary of my 21st Birthday to me!!!
Posted On 01/12/2009 17:28 by Crystalwitch

First off, before I totally forget I want to thank everyone for the beautiful birthday  messages – they all really made my day!!!

We didn’t really do much today – no presents (yet!) but Tony’s been flat out fixing the car and stuff so he never really had a chance to get out to get me anything.  His excuse this morning was that, after the disaster with the bathroom scales last year, he wanted to take the time to get it right this year, so he had planned to take me into town to let me pick them.  Problem was that we had the meeting at the new school for Ryan (more in a bit!) and as a friend had the little ones we just had to go back to her house for a coffee.  Well we couldn’t be rude now could we?  So I’ve told him not to worry – I’ll make a list tonight of all the things I want to get with my Christmas/birthday money and he can have a look through that and choose something to get me.  Tell ya the truth, the only things I’d really like would be a mould for a Goddess plaque (sorry bout the spelling!), some recycled sari yarn and I need a new Elfin diary.  I did ask him one year to buy me stuff for my altar – maybe a new cauldron, maybe a statue, a wand or an athame but he panicked as the girl in the shop told him they have to be bought by the person who’s going to use them.  When I explained that if he got them for me they’d be bought in love and I’d be cleansing and charging them anyways he still said he’s rather I got them myself.  I think, if he’s honest, he’d have to admit that “witchy” shops scare the hell out of him, so it looks like I may have to treat myself again this year!  To tell you the truth, I’d be happy just getting a load of candles, incense and a pair of stripey socks but no matter how many times I’ve told him this, somehow things like this seem to escape him,.

Well, as I said, we had the meeting this morning with the head teacher at the school we’re thinking of moving Ryan too and I think it went well.  I have to admit that I wasn’t too keen to begin with.  I’ve got this weird sense of inverted snobbery and after seeing some of the kids from the school running about round our shop I really wasn’t happy about it being one of two schools that we had a chance of.  There are two other schools that were my first choice – one was a Catholic school, the other Church of England and since they’re both deemed as the best schools on the island I had absolutely no quams about sending my kids.  After all, we all want the best education for our children, no matter who runs the school!  The Catholic one wouldn’t even consider it as the kids haven’t been christened Catholic and the CoE might take him as a child of a different religion who’s parents want them raised Church of England – if their board of Governors agree.  I’m not holding my breath on that one – apparently they do have Muslim kids there but I’m not sure how they’d feel after seeing Pagan on the application form!

Anyhoo – we got to this new one today and Ryan was shocked to see how close it was to the shop – literally outside our back door!  It was so strange – we walked in and this lovely peace came over me – the infant school and the one he’s at now seem to have this continual buzz going on when you walk in, but this one, just total calmness.  One of the classrooms was open and a few of the kids lifted their heads to look up and then went straight back to their work!  The Principal seems nice – no pretence or trying to impress – he’s only been there since June and seems know exactly what he wants to do with the school.  He spoke directly to Ryan – telling HIM all about his plans and what the school was like – rather than to Tony and I which I thought was great as, well we’re not the ones going to be going there everyday are we?  The one thing that shocked me was when he said he’d been in touch with Ryan’s present teacher (who’s deputy Head at his present school so hasn’t taken her own class since October!!!) and said that she agreed a break from his own school would be good for Ryan.  And after she sat with us in December and told us that this would all be sorted out and not to consider moving schools until nearer the end of the school year.  And that hopefully this would be resolved and would need to go that far!    Anyways – Ryan seemed to like the new school – seems excited at the thought of going there though he did admit he doesn’t really want to leave where he is either, and the Head has said not to do anything rash , to take the time and think it through thoroughly – and if we decide to go ahead with it then he’ll take care of everything!  So, yeah – I’m feeling a bit happier about it all now so we’ll see what’s round the corner.

So on the whole it’s been a pretty decent birthday – sorry – 15th anniversary of my 21st birthday (I forgot, I’m supposed to stop counting them now aren’t I!!!)  Tony took Jonathan to bed tonight and Ryan, Rebecca and I did some Yoga – not as relaxing an experience as I would have liked but fun.  Ryan was away with the poses before I even figured what they where – and he’s never done it before!  We just stuck a video on and they’ve decided they’re going to do it with me every night to make sure I do my exercises!  Well with help like that, I’ll have the figure I never had in no time at all.

Now I’m away to do a few readings for myself – the tarot and the Goddess cards have been unearthed and are waiting patiently.  And who knows – I may or may not have a cider and blackcurrant (or four!)  and dream longingly of that chocolate cake Merle ‘sent’ – Dr Atkins can wait tonight!!!
