ok, so not to brag... but it is clear as a bell out and 86*! i am sitting in my backyard in a tank top! :D i am enjoying watching all the little birdies enjoy my sacred place. i saw my beloved marvin (a blue jay that i haven't seen all winter.) and i also saw a hummingbird land on a branch then it flew right at me! went right over my head! (hummingbirds make me think of my grandma. :) think she just said hello. and blue birds remind me of my grandpa. so they both were here.) my dogs are in heaven right now. they are just milling around, being dogs. oooo and i even saw a crow fly above. they like to hang round in the morning and sometimes at night. i think they like to sun themselves in the morning/afternoon. the sun hits my house perfectly for them. but i saw a solo crow buzz by. it was great!
i've been so caught up in my thoughts of odd weather that i forgot to just enjoy it! lol!! i realized how much the plants are enjoying it so i thought i should too. ;)
so i was told by naimh that to druids their local land (i.e. plants, flowers, and history) is very important. i realized that la verne is a place that has always been very close to my heart. i love where i live, and i don't know if i could (happily) live anywhere else. -i hate definites, but i really do love this place. and when i lived with my parents, we lived in north l.v. i now live in the south. -which is like the old town area. and i love it! :D but by my parents house there is a grove of orange trees. growing up here i knew that the oranges were very important to this town. i also always loved that grove. it is near what people call the l.v. mansion. (a beautiful spanish style mansion that looks like it was built in the 1800's) and it also has a beautiful old house that i've always wondered the history on. so i would always go for walks around there. i figured out many problems there. learned a lot.soooooo when i learned this from naimh i decided to see what i could learn about my town. i learned that not only were the groves important, but they were what made l.v. a nice town. i.e. made us money. the whole town was pretty much groves. and i know that some of the trees that are in that very park have been here the whole time. (gee no wonder i find them so enchanting!!!) also, our local football cross town grudge game was always called the smudge pot game. i learned that the smudge pots were used when the weather would begin to get to cold for the trees. and that college students would be hired to do it. :) oh ya, and i learned that our college (that i think is one of the most beautiful) was a big reason why we also did well and stayed around. aaannnndddd the church of the breathern was a huge part of it. -although i have never been a xtian, i have always loved that church. it is very old and very cool looking! so it's funny that all the things that mean something to the true spirit of this town, have always been very close to my heart. kinda cool huh?!? one of these days i will get some photos for you all. you know what... maybe that will be my task today. i wanted to go to the groves and i live right down the street from the church and the school. (no wonder i love where i live! ;) ) -on a side note.. the only issue i have is that in a town that's as small as this one, we've got about 27 churches! wow! i was pretty amazed when i read that. but i have 4 of them pretty much on the same block as me! lol! so i guess not that surprising! lol!! but we are a pretty open town though. oooo.. and one last fact. the town was originally called lordsburg. after the founder. the townsfolk didn't care for him and decided to change the name once he kicked the bucket. when they did change the name they had mrs. lords marry mr. la verne in a mock ceremony. and mrs. lords was played by a dude!!!! soooo... in my eyes, la verne has always been ok with gay marriage! ha ha ha!!! go us!! ok. off to snap some pix. i may even put them up tonight! :D
