PELE:

Pele is the Hawain Goddess of the volcano. She is the one who decides when the volcano's will erupt and where the lava will flow. The hawaiian people believe the islands belong to Pele, and that they are just barrowing the land until she decides otherwise. She is the personification of the female power of destruction and her rages were considered to be the cause of Kilauea's eruptions. (Kilauea is where she resides)
Pele is also believed to control Lightning. She is ussually depicted wearing black...surrounded by a lake of red. Pele is not a goddess to mess with, and her power is felt throughout Hawaii. Some even believe that it is bad luck to remove a piece of Obsidian (hardened lava) from Pele's island without her permission. People have brought back pieces because of the bad luck they seem to attract. Her temper is said to be very short, but she is always shown respect and reverence.

Brigit:

Brigit (also known as Bride, Bridey, Brighid, Brigit, and Brigantia) is the essential Goddess of the hearth and Home. Originating from Ireland, this firey Goddess is ussually celebrated by pagans on Imbolc. She is the fires of the home and the warmth of family. Often depicted in the three forms of the goddess (Maiden, mother, crone) Brigit is one of the most recongnized Goddesses.
She is known as the Goddess of the mantle, meaning the home fires. She is said to protect the home and hearth from unwanted intruders. Be they living or dead. She is also the patron of poetry and the "fires" of the mind. She is also said to help young couples keep the firey passion in the bedroom. She is honored as a Saint in the Catholic church, which signifies her importance even more. Her fires are a reminder that better times are coming and soon warmth will greet the world once again.
