i am most interested in folk magic practices and herbalism. i practice regularly with two different wiccan circles because i enjoy the company for sabbats and they don't mind that i'm not wiccan. i am also very interested in celtic reconstructionism although i don't practice that way. in real life i am a professional archaeologist specializing in public archaeology, which is a fancy way of saying hands-on activities to help children and adults understand why preserving and protecting the past is important, relevant, and fun.

making friends, meeting new people, having deep conversations (which is hard electronically because things always come across wrong and offend people when they weren't meant to). my family (husband and son). art. escaping from reality. mythology and different cultures. learning new things.

my husband's family. people who claim to be open-minded yet get nasty when presented with an opinion that differs from their own.

was once quite good with pen and ink, chalk pastels and calligraphy. occasionally foray back into those realms, and sometimes oil painting as well. have just joined the sca at the request of my son, so trying to learn about that and how it works... will most likely be a cunningwoman for my character but having some difficulty finding a "real" name - suggestions would be welcome!

i collect books the way some people collect rocks or art. i mostly like escapist literature (fantasy novels) but occasionally read other types. i also do a lot of research on pre-modern pagan and shamanistic beliefs in an effort to find evidence to support most modern pagan claims, and for ideas for my own practice. but in truth, most of my reading currently is restricted to children's fantasy that i read with my son, because that's about all i have time for.

most kinds - no rap and no country but most everything else goes. have been mainly enjoying pagan-themed music lately, especially chants that my son and i can sing in the car. also enjoy celtic music of all kinds whether pagan or not, in particular capercaillie, emerald rose, heather dale, and my friends in the local band gypsyfire. other pagan folk/rock type that i like are gaia consort, the wyrd sisters, sharon knight, rowena and plenty of others. i also listen to normal music like beth hart, concrete blonde, dead can dance, butterfly messiah, loreena mckennitt, and others in a pretty diverse range.

fantasy, some sci-fi, old anime from when the artists actually cared about making it look real. some favorites off the top of my head - the labyrinth, the dark crystal, the last unicorn, monty python...
